We are partnering with a church in Negritos, Peru, a coastal community in the westernmost part of South America.  We have teamed up with Compassion International to change the lives within this community by sponsoring children to rescue them from poverty in Jesus' name. We will also be taking ThornCreekers to visit Peru for yearly infrastructure projects.

Here's how YOU can help:

1. Sponsor a child - For $38 a month you can change the life of a child in Negritos.  This is the most important and pressing need of this partnership. We need to sponsor at least 50 children in this community to make the partnership viable.  Watch for our Sponsorship weekend, coming January 21-22, 2012.

2. Support Fundraising - We are partnering up with local businesses and restaurants to create monthly events that will directly donate proceeds to the mission department.  May 20, 2012 we will also have a 5k Fun Run. Calendar of events coming soon!!

3. Go to Peru - Plan now if you would like to be on the missions team.  Our first trip is July 16-23, 2012.  We are looking for people with a heart to work hard and foster our relationship with our partner church.  You will have opportunities to meet your sponsored child and work alongside the church to make a difference in their lives and in yours as well.  Cost is $2,500 per person.  Don't let the price disappoint you - you will have plenty of opportunity to work in fundraisers to defray your costs.

We love Rwanda

Every time you drink coffee at ThornCreek, you are supporting a village in Rwanda. ThornCreek is now purchasing specialty coffee from Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company, which buys coffee from local Rwandan coffee farmers giving them the opportunity to earn a living wage. This is not only "fair trade" coffee, but often pays the coffee farmers more than current "fair trade" prices. So drink up, knowing that with every cup we are doing our small part to help a people ravaged by genocide rebuild their lives.

In addition to these two (2) areas, ThornCreek Church supports missions through the Church of the Nazarene. The Church of the Nazarene is in over 100 countries!
